A very big thank you to Samuel and all our friends at Revival Movement / Every Home Crusade for helping us with this further large shipment of Gospel Literature for Malawi, despatched yesterday.
Great progress on the container bay roof
The first heavy rains fell earlier this week, so the roof doesn’t come a minute too early.
Once the IBR sheets go on, we will start the conversion of the middle container to office accommodation
New (to us) Wheels
It’s taken a long time, but we are now the happy owners and possessors of a new (to us) 3T truck.
It’s planned to use this on the construction site and for literature distribution to help relieve our serious logistical problems.
Mission accomplished
It was so satisfying to see the containers finally moved onto their base yesterday. This was my main objective for this trip.
Credit is due to the builders who have done a remarkable job, and especially to brother Goodson who has worked tirelessly and with great diligence, supervising the work, to turn my ideas into reality.
Flora’s Eggs – and a whole lot more
What a blessing to be back with the brothers and sisters in Malawi!
I arrived in time to join the monthly get together of workers at Goodson’s house at the Saidi project site. It’s a joy to see how well the team is gelling. It’s obvious that the Lord of the Harvest has brought His labourers together in His harvest field.
News Update – June 2021
Brother Stephen has just returned from a most encouraging visit to Malawi – his first since February 2020. The main reasons for this trip were (1) to help Anna (Vallance) get settled into her new home and environment, (2) to “eyeball” the project site at Saidi for the first time (Bros. Harold & Goodson had been our eyes and ears through the entire process of buying the land), and (3) to meet and encourage many of SALT’s partners in the work in Malawi. With the gracious help of the Lord, Stephen was able to accomplish what he set out to do.
Delights at Dedza
It’s always a joy to stop at Dedza Pottery – one of my favourite spots, anywhere – to break the journey between Lilongwe and the south. The air is cool, they do the best Chicken Curry for miles around, and we’ve been enjoying Dedza Delights with great Malawian coffee since first we came to the country. A great watering hole.
This time was particularly special as we met with a group of brothers from Chidewere, some of whom have attended our Bible Teaching conferences, and who have started to gather together for Bible study and prayer.
These dear men were anxious to begin functioning as a Scriptural assembly, and over lunch we were able to point out the simple principles upon which the early disciples met together – Receiving the Word, Baptism, the Apostles’ Doctrine, Fellowship, Breaking Bread & Prayers.
It was a real thrill to learn a few days ago that they have since begun to break bread together is accordance with the New Testament pattern.
A New Motorcycle for Goodson
3 years ago a young Canadian sister’s sacrifice enabled us to purchase a small, Chinese motorcycle for brother Goodson. It was “cheap and cheerful”, but has proved to be an amazing blessing to the work.
Not surprisingly, frequent use on poor dirt roads had begun to take its toll, and despite Goodson’s best efforts to maintain it, the bike has been giving real problems lately, and maintaining it seems like throwing good money after bad.
We were recently contacted by a young brother who expressed his burden to help Goodson with a bigger, stronger and more reliable motorbike, better suited to the conditions on which it’s normally used. His very generous gift has come at a crucial time as we begin our 2020 Gospel calendar distribution, and the newly purchased Honda bike will enable him to reach many areas which would have otherwise been inaccessible to him, and to keep visiting the little assembly in Zomba to which he is so committed.
We praise the Lord for this and pray that the work it has facilitated will be a great blessing to many.
Going to press again
As we go to press on half a million 2020 Gospel Calendars, we express our thanks to Brian Chalmers for his help with the artwork this year.
