Nthawi ya Baibulo – Bibletime

Partnering to Equip the Next Generation

In partnership with Bible Educational Services (BES), Southern Africa Literature Trust (SALT) is actively distributing Nthawi ya Baibulo — the Chichewa version of the Bibletime Bible study series — across Malawi.

Nthawi ya Baibulo is a structured, age-appropriate curriculum that introduces children and young people to key Bible truths. Lessons are designed to be clear, consistent, and engaging, and are used across churches, schools, and homes. With materials available in the local language, children can engage with the Bible in a meaningful and accessible way.

Progress in Malawi

  • Over 10,000 children are currently using Nthawi ya Baibulo.
  • 165 teachers have received training through SALT-led sessions.
  • The programme is active in ~100 churches across 43 denominations.
  • Several schools are also incorporating the lessons.

Local Voices

“It was the first time they had learned that there were different days of creation,” shared Levi, a teacher at a private school. “The children were amazed, and it opened the door to many more Bible discussions.”

Clifford from the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) said, “Look, the kids are really happy with the books and are learning their verses. Now many children are able to learn the Word of God.”

Looking Ahead

SALT’s vision for Nthawi ya Baibulo includes:

  • Expanding into more schools as the academic term resumes in September.
  • Continued teacher training to support delivery and long-term sustainability.
  • Follow-up sessions to strengthen local use and respond to feedback.
  • Encouraging local ownership by equipping trained volunteers to train others.

How You Can Help

As the reach of Nthawi ya Baibulo grows, so does the need for prayer, support, and collaboration. Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Pray for the team in Malawi — for wisdom, strength, and open doors.
  • Give to support printing, logistics, and training sessions.
