Stephen sustained a nasty injury to his thumb last week, when a glass coffee pot broke as he was cleaning it.

Give thanks that he was able to quickly access help at the Seventh Day Adventist hospital in Blantyre. The injury required 7 stitches, but give thanks that the wound seems to be healing acceptably, and so far there does not appear to be any infection or indication of long-term damage to nerves or tendons.

Wati writes, “The team visited the evacuation camp at Pa Mchenga on 31/03/23. A short gospel message was shared, and some food items were given. We can pray for the families there who all listened attentively.”

The other work is ongoing, Bible studies (kids and adults) Sunday meetings.

We are doing a little more finishing work on the msasa (plastering etc)

Anna says, Give thanks for some positive news: We started Bibletime with the little kids today.

Note: After so much negative news in the past week, it’s wonderful to see the spiritual work resuming at Saidi.

We have much to give thanks for. Although there has been terrible loss of life in the natural disaster which struck Southern Malawi last weekend, we have received accounts of miraculous preservation of others.

In particular, Brother Harold wishes to thank the Lord’s people for their prayers. He and his family were preserved through very serious danger, as were other brothers and sisters in his village at Njuli.

Although there has been extensive damage to homes near to the SALT site at Saidi, we have not heard of any loss of life, or serious injury.

Anna says: Give thanks for those who came to the first Bible class for secondary students today. This is a group I’ve long been burdened for because they aren’t really covered in any of our other classes, but until now I lacked the confidence in Chichewa.

The Bibletime curriculum is already proving to be a blessing in that regard.

Please pray for God’s word to bear fruit in these lives.

Please give thanks for the hugely successful 4-day child protection training we did on site at Saidi last week.

This was very enlightening concerning the depth and extent of the problem of child abuse, and extremely informative on ways to address the issues in an African context.

Please pray too that what we have learnt will really inform the way we interract with children, and that it may ultimately result in outreach opportunities in our community.

Yes – “Give Thanks: The Nthawi ya Baibulo (Bibletime) books have arrived” from the printer.

Anna adds:

PRAYER REQUEST

Please pray for the five groups including us who will be using the curriculum, for help to get comfortable and use it prayerfully to ground children in the truth of the gospel.

Note: This is a very significant moment for the team who have been involved in the painstaking work of translation for well over a year now. This is Year 1 of 3. The experience gained from this should enable the process to go more smoothly in the future as the next two years’ material is translated.
