Pray

Please pray for the safe and speedy arrival of a large consignment of much-needed Gospel Literature for Malawi. In total, there are around 1.75 million items in transit, including Gospel Calendars and Tracts.

The consignment also includes several thousand prison hygiene packs.

Yes – “Give Thanks: The Nthawi ya Baibulo (Bibletime) books have arrived” from the printer.

Anna adds:

PRAYER REQUEST

Please pray for the five groups including us who will be using the curriculum, for help to get comfortable and use it prayerfully to ground children in the truth of the gospel.

Note: This is a very significant moment for the team who have been involved in the painstaking work of translation for well over a year now. This is Year 1 of 3. The experience gained from this should enable the process to go more smoothly in the future as the next two years’ material is translated.

A little over a year ago, I wrote an article about the translation and revision of the Bibletime curriculum. As of this week, we are now ready for the third step: publication!

It seems like it has been a long time coming. However, our translator really has done a fabulous job powering through eight student booklets. And four text-heavy teacher guides! It truly is a blessing to have a translator who is just as committed to this project as we are. Gibson is a believer, and he understands the importance of clearly communicating truth.

Anna writes: Please pray for the timely printing of the Bibletime curriculum and for help as we seek to pilot and continue revising it in the coming year.

The most important thing, of course, is that God would use it to make the many children we work with “wise unto salvation.”

Please continue to pray for the progress and arrival of the shipment of Gospel Calendars sent recently. This is now expected to land in Beira (Mozambique) on 13 December. Arrival in Malawi is likely to take at least a further 4 weeks.

We have been considering printing part of the expected shortfall of calendars in Malawi, but prices have more than doubled since we last printed there. We expect considerable outlay for printing Nthawi ya Baibulo in the New Year, Lord willing, so please pray that we will have wisdom in the prioritisation decisions we have to make.

Anna says, “Give thanks that the last document for the A-Series was sent to the designer this week!”

She adds, “Please pray for timely design of the Bibletime curriculum. The designer is swamped, but it would be nice to be able to start in the new year. The need for this kind of material is becoming increasingly evident at our weekly kids’ Bible class.”

Please continue to pray for the shipment of 2023 Gospel calendars and hygiene packs which was sent from Belfast during September.

Due to breakdown problems at the printer they were only able to complete half of the planned print run of 1,000,000 calendars. Please pray for the timely arrival of the container and for guidance as we consider whether to print all/part of the remaining 500,000 calendars using a commercial printer in Malawi.

While work continues on construction of the maintenance workshop and stores, please join with us in giving thanks for the installation of a 3KVA solar pv system to power the new print room and office, due to take place this week.

This represents a considerable investment, but with regular (often daily) prolonged (8+ hr) blackbouts due to load shedding, we have no real option but to go “off-grid”. A power outage during a print run is not just inconvenient but can damage the equipment.

We are thankful for the donated digital duplicator and ancillary equipment which will enable us to produce short-medium run Bible courses and other publications. Pray that it will be mightily blessed by the Lord.
