Brother Harold and sister Anna caught up with brother Yamikani Issa from Liwonde, who has been distributing literature since 2015. Below is what he had to say about what motivates him to distribute gospel literature. (Note: the answers have been lightly edited to improve clarity.)
Special Prayer Request: Vehicle Reliability Troubles
We are asking for prayer concerning our ongoing vehicle reliability problems in Malawi. Regular visitors to this blog are aware that we have been struggling with vehicle troubles for quite some time.
The Warm Heart of Africa – Malawi
Malawians refer to their beautiful little country as “The Warm Heart of Africa” – and I heartily agree. Since Gail, Philip and I relocated from Malawi to Northern Ireland in 2011, I have made more return visits than I can remember. When I am away, I definitely miss my family and the fellowship of saints at home. But there is something about The Warm Heart that irresistibly draws me back.
Muslim Youth Appreciate Gift of Gospel Literature
We love when our literature distributors tell us how they appreciate the materials we supply to them.
Anna just shared this letter of thanks which she received from a volunteer in Machinga. He who works to bring the Gospel to Muslim youth. We have edited it very slightly to make it a little more readable.
Evolution of SALT’s Gospel Literature Ministry in Malawi
As “L” is at the heart of “SALT” so Gospel Literature Ministry is at the heart of what SALT does in Malawi.
By the grace of God, over the past 10 years we have been able to publish and distribute around 14 Million items of Gospel Literature across the length and breadth of the country.
Weather-related Gospel Literature distribution difficulties in Malawi
We are so thankful for the arrival and discharge of a large consignment of Gospel Literature – 1,000,000 Gospel Calendars and 1,5000,000 Gospel Tracts. A large portion of the Gospel Tracts are brand new designs for Malawi.
Now the real work begins with bulk distribution by commercial courier to our various Regional Storage Depots in Nsanje (seriously affected by Tropical Storm Ana), Mulanje, Lilongwe, Kasungu & Mzuzu, as well as our main hub at Saidi, Thondwe.
Pray: 2022 Calendar Distribution underway
Please pray for our 2022 Calendar distribution which is finally underway. Malawi continues to experience extreme weather conditions. Many roads have become un-passable, some have been completely washed away.
Please pray for Brother Harold and Brother Goodson as they continue to supply our network of volunteer distributors, and for these faithful brothers and sisters who will speed the literature on its way to distant communities. The weather conditions make this large task even more difficult.

Pray: 2022 Calendar Distribution
After a long delay due to transit and customs clearance issues, we are very hopeful that our 2022 Calendar distribution will get underway this week.
Harold and Goodson have been receiving many calls from our large team of volunteer distributors, who have been waiting patiently to receive supplies. They will distribute around 1,000,000 calendars and 1,500,000 tracts. Supplying this distribution networks involves a lot of hard work and long journeys, so please pray for stamina and safety as they undertake this important work.
Pray that the Lord will really bless his word.
Pray: Brother Harold’s sister
Brother Harold asks us to pray for his sister, Sue. She has been diagnosed with with heart failure.
Health care in Malawi is very poor and treatments options are limited. Please pray that she will enjoy better health.
Encouragement from past Conferences
On the morning after the fire, Brother Harold sent this message of encouragement. We searched out some photos and video from the conference he refers to.
It’s so encouraging to know that the Lord has been working in people’s lives.
