Container office conversion underway
This is the Lord’s doing
We had a great online meeting with the team in Malawi when we got first-hand accounts of the following areas of the work:
Goodson – Building project & local History outreach
Anna – Child-Headed Households & School visits
Planning, planning, planning!
SALT Trustees have got together in Somerset for a second week-long series of meetings to review progress so far and to plan and strategize for the future development of the work.
We first did this in August 2020 and found the time extremely useful.
Zatsala pang’ono
Work on roofing the container bay is so close to completion.
We expect to begin the conversion of the middle container next week. It will be fitted out for use as offices for translation work and Bible Time ministry.
Thanks again to everyone whose generosity has made this possible.
You can see a pictorial history of the project here.
Planning for Saidi Open Day
The team met yesterday to plan for our first big event at Saidi.
On 20th November we plan to invite members of the various Bible study groups, builders and tradesmen working on the site, local dignitaries and others for an open day to hear a Gospel presentation and learn more about our plans.
It’s hoped that the UK trustees of SALT will be represented by Stephen and Jim.
An initial guest list suggests we could have as many as 500 present, so please pray for the planning involved.
3.6 Million items despatched
A very big thank you to Samuel and all our friends at Revival Movement / Every Home Crusade for helping us with this further large shipment of Gospel Literature for Malawi, despatched yesterday.
20,000 Exercise Books Delivered
Yesterday we received 20,000 exercise books at SALT offices in Saidi, Thondwe. The books will be distributed to students in primary and secondary schools.
During the school visits, each student hears a short Gospel presentation and receives a gift of an exercise book. Exercise books are highly prized as schools are generally very poorly resourced.
Great progress on the container bay roof
The first heavy rains fell earlier this week, so the roof doesn’t come a minute too early.
Once the IBR sheets go on, we will start the conversion of the middle container to office accommodation
