During a recent visit, we met with the women participating in the skills training project at Dzaleka Refugee Camp to better understand how the project is progressing and the impact they feel it will have in their lives. We met with 26 women who are participating in the project which is training them in tailoring, knitting and batik crafts to help generate employment and alleviate poverty. Some of the women are widows and others are young mothers. In addition to the women staying at the camp, there are also two Malawian women benefitting from the project. Overall, the participants are very engaged, and they shared positive feedback and expressed gratitude about being involved in it.
Weather-related Gospel Literature distribution difficulties in Malawi
We are so thankful for the arrival and discharge of a large consignment of Gospel Literature – 1,000,000 Gospel Calendars and 1,5000,000 Gospel Tracts. A large portion of the Gospel Tracts are brand new designs for Malawi.
Now the real work begins with bulk distribution by commercial courier to our various Regional Storage Depots in Nsanje (seriously affected by Tropical Storm Ana), Mulanje, Lilongwe, Kasungu & Mzuzu, as well as our main hub at Saidi, Thondwe.
Pray: 2022 Calendar Distribution underway
Please pray for our 2022 Calendar distribution which is finally underway. Malawi continues to experience extreme weather conditions. Many roads have become un-passable, some have been completely washed away.
Please pray for Brother Harold and Brother Goodson as they continue to supply our network of volunteer distributors, and for these faithful brothers and sisters who will speed the literature on its way to distant communities. The weather conditions make this large task even more difficult.

Pray: Imminent Visit to Malawi
Stephen & Jim will appreciate your prayers regarding their imminent visit to Malawi. Stephen is due to depart on Thursday 24th Feb, and Jim on Friday 4th March.
Please pray:
- That both Stephen & Jim remain Covid-free prior to and during their trip to avoid and complications with their travel plans
- For travelling mercies in the air and on roads made more dangerous by recent extreme weather.
- For wisdom as they plan future development of the site at Saidi, the response to the damage caused by Storm Ana, and SALT’s ongoing Gospel outreach efforts.
Give Thanks: 2,500,000 Items Gospel Literature
Give thanks with us for the safe arrival and clearance of a large consignment of Gospel Literature.
We hear a lot about Global Supply Chain issues, and we have not been exempt. Nevertheless, we thank God that the Calendars and Tracts are now available for distribution after transit and customs delays.
Give Thanks: Anna’s Work Permit Approved
Anna asks that we give thanks that her two-year Work Permit has finally been approved. This has taken many months, but now makes her stay in Malawi a lot less complicated.
Pray: Ongoing work at Dzaleka Refugee Camp
Wati asks that we please continue to pray for the ongoing work at Dzaleka Refugee Camp, including the skills training for women some of whom foster orphaned kids in the camp.
Pray: Increasing Hardship at Dzaleka
Wati asks us to remember the increasing hardship at Dzaleka Refugee Camp. During their visit last week, she and Anna learned that 680 families have recently had their meagre monthly food ration removed completely as official agencies no longer have sufficient funds to help them. The remainder have to survive on just a few $ per month.
As refugees, these people have no access to land to grow their own food, and have no legal right to work, making their situation very serious indeed. Please pray for those sharing the Gospel among the 50,000 occupants of the camp.
Pray: 2022 Calendar Distribution
After a long delay due to transit and customs clearance issues, we are very hopeful that our 2022 Calendar distribution will get underway this week.
Harold and Goodson have been receiving many calls from our large team of volunteer distributors, who have been waiting patiently to receive supplies. They will distribute around 1,000,000 calendars and 1,500,000 tracts. Supplying this distribution networks involves a lot of hard work and long journeys, so please pray for stamina and safety as they undertake this important work.
Pray that the Lord will really bless his word.
Pray: Stephen & Jim to have negative Covid test
Brother Stephen is due to fly to Malawi on 24th Feb, Brother Jim a little over a week later on 4th March. Please pray that both will remain infection free and have a negative Covid test to enable them to travel. With so much Covid around, it is becoming increasingly difficult to avoid infection.
Please also pray that the Lord will bless their trip. Following the fire at Saidi, there will need to assess the damage and make plans for reconstruction, as well as the further development of the project site, as well as reviewing other important aspects of the work.
