We want to say Thank You to Naomi Steele who recently took the initiative and arranged a coffee morning in support of the work in Malawi.

Although they were too shy to appear on camera, several dozen local Christian ladies came to enjoy Naomi’s fantastic hospitality.

We are really encouraged to see the increasing interest at the children’s work at Saidi.

Since the MGO day camp in August, the number of children and youth attending has been continued to increase. They now meet as three separate age groups. As you can see from the photos below, one group meets in the msasa (thatch gazebo), while another smaller group meets under a smaller gazebo. The remaining group is meeting in the block-making shed (you can just see the mound of gravel) for lack of space elsewhere.

Brother Stephen was greatly encouraged by his recent visit to Ontario for report meetings. Apart from the warm hospitality, it was a real blessing to see the enthusiasm with which the Lord’s people received the updates from Malawi and committed to pray for the growing work there.

Stephen hopes to be with the assembly at Manvers Hall, Bath on Saturday 10th December for an evening intended to encourage younger Christians to become more involved in missionary work. Please pray for this important meeting – the value of missionary endeavour is being eroded in the classroom as our children are being indoctrinated at school with the idea that “interfering” in other cultures is an evil thing.

Brother Harold shared this photograph of the group that turned out for the meeting this morning.

It’s so encouraging to see how the regular Sunday Gospel meeting has continued to grow in number following the two-week series during MGO.

As we give thanks for this, Harold asks that we also pray for wisdom to know how best to take the work forward. Pray too for blessing in salvation as the Gospel is preached.

Please remember the deteriorating economic situation in Malawi, illustrated by this plea for help received this morning from a senior prison officer in Malawi.

“Good morning Stephen, I trust the Lord is keeping you well.

“We have a difficult situation at C* Prison and N* Prison. The two prisons have run out food. We have maize in stock at M* Prison Farm but there is no fuel. Therefore, I am requesting if SALT can come in to help. The Officer In-charge for N* Prison personally called me on the need.

With each visit, I am amazed at the on-site progress at Saidi. The Lord has been so good!

Recently, we have been working on a new office and printing room, as well as a maintenance workshop and store. Although it wasn’t possible to get these completed in the run-up to MGO 2022, we were thankful that the immediate priority of running water and a working toilet was accomplished – much to the relief of the visiting ladies, and some of the gentlemen too! We’re praying that both of these important structures will be finished soon.
