It’s almost a year since our extremely useful Trustees workshop at Pitcott Farm, Somerset. We had planned to be together again in Scotland this week. Sadly those plans have had to be temporarily shelved, following sister Janet’s cancer diagnosis. Please join in praying with us for successful surgery later this month, and for a full and quick recovery.

Brother Harold shared this photograph of the group that turned out for the meeting this morning.

It’s so encouraging to see how the regular Sunday Gospel meeting has continued to grow in number following the two-week series during MGO.

As we give thanks for this, Harold asks that we also pray for wisdom to know how best to take the work forward. Pray too for blessing in salvation as the Gospel is preached.

Please remember the deteriorating economic situation in Malawi, illustrated by this plea for help received this morning from a senior prison officer in Malawi.

“Good morning Stephen, I trust the Lord is keeping you well.

“We have a difficult situation at C* Prison and N* Prison. The two prisons have run out food. We have maize in stock at M* Prison Farm but there is no fuel. Therefore, I am requesting if SALT can come in to help. The Officer In-charge for N* Prison personally called me on the need.

Please pray for Stephen & Gail who will be taking part in a three-day Hostile Environment and First Aid Training course this week.

Although some of the training scenarios will likely envisage environments that are considerably more dangerous than Malawi, pray that they will be able to acquire knowledge and ideas that will prove beneficial in our circumstances, especially given the deteriorating security situation in Malawi.

Over the past couple of weeks sporadic fuel shortages have become more widespread. In an escalation of problems which re-emerged in April this year, fuel pumps across Malawi are running dry. Wati reminds us to pray for the children who normally attend the Kids’ Bible Study (Saturday):

  • When the Kids’ Bible Study meetings resumed after MGO there were some new faces attending. Some who first visited during the MGO camp have come to the regular kid’s Bible study in the past two weeks.
  • Schools will be on break at the end of September and the kids’ Bible study is now on break and will resume when schools reopen. Please pray that the children who attend will be preserved during the break, and that they will reflect on what they have learned.

Anna is spending the next few days in N.Ireland en route to USA for a family wedding.

Pray that the time away from Malawi will be restful, and especially that the time with family will be a blessing to her.

With each visit, I am amazed at the on-site progress at Saidi. The Lord has been so good!

Recently, we have been working on a new office and printing room, as well as a maintenance workshop and store. Although it wasn’t possible to get these completed in the run-up to MGO 2022, we were thankful that the immediate priority of running water and a working toilet was accomplished – much to the relief of the visiting ladies, and some of the gentlemen too! We’re praying that both of these important structures will be finished soon.
