Give thanks for the arrival of rain in time to avoid the maize crop being overstressed – pray that good rains will continue
Give thanks for strengthening relationships
Anna says, give thanks for continued help that has been given to build relationships with my neighbors and the orphans
Vehicle Issues
It’s a real cause for thanksgiving that the reconditioned Brake Master Cylinder we brought for the Land Cruiser send to have resolved its braking problem. There are a few other ongoing issues with the car, as to be expected with such an old vehicle, but this gives us some heart that it’s worth continuing to work on it.
Also very glad to report that the Adblue problem with the Mitsubishi truck send to have been resolved. Thanks for praying.
Regrettably there is not much progress with the Isuzu which is still of the road with engine problems. The mechanic working in it has given lots of excuses, and we frankly don’t know what to believe. He has requested another week or so to resolve it, but if has been going on for many months already, so this doesn’t instill a lot of confidence. Please pray.
Great co-workers
Give thanks for good relationships between co-workers who really complement and help each other.
That’s true of the relatively new team in Malawi, and it’s certainly true that the trustees in UK have great rapport.
News Update – June 2021
Brother Stephen has just returned from a most encouraging visit to Malawi – his first since February 2020. The main reasons for this trip were (1) to help Anna (Vallance) get settled into her new home and environment, (2) to “eyeball” the project site at Saidi for the first time (Bros. Harold & Goodson had been our eyes and ears through the entire process of buying the land), and (3) to meet and encourage many of SALT’s partners in the work in Malawi. With the gracious help of the Lord, Stephen was able to accomplish what he set out to do.
The first literature they’ve received!
Karonga is almost as far north as you can go in Malawi – about 12 hours from our Southern Region base.
Today, brother Raphael visited the prison there to leave some basic PPE and some Gospel literature. Here is his moving report of the visit:
Covid-19 PPE distribution begins
We again express our gratitude to Raphael and his team who have begun distributing the items purchased through the kindness of the Lord’s people.
Pails, soap and masks have already been distributed in Chitipa and work is underway to sew masks for the remaining five prisons in the region.
Each inmate has also received a supply of Gospel Literature.
Thanks to everyone who has given support to this valuable effort.
May 2019 Update
In our April 2019 and March 2019 news we reported on our visit to Malawi in February and the well-publicised serious weather-related crisis that befell the region recently. This month we want to update you on some of those issues and give you some matters for thanksgiving and prayer.
Prison Pack Update
Many thanks to the Christians at Hope Hall, Lesmahagow, from who we received a pallet of 8 completed cartons. Together with those received from the Christians at Bloomfied Gospel Hall & Ebenezer Gospel Hall, that brings to 55 the total ready to ship.
