Anna says: “We are thankful that the translator has finished the final section of Bibletime! Please pray for the revision and design stage to go smoothly.”

Comment: This is a significant milestone, and a cause for much thanksgiving. Not only does it mean that the Bible Time project is nearing completion, but it also frees up Gibson, our principal translator, to focus on other very important translation projects!

As we give thanks and rejoice in the Lord’s provision, please continue to pray for the last leg of the long process to purchase a new Toyota Landcruiser utility vehicle for benefit of the work in Malawi. The vehicle eventually arrived at the Malawi border late last week and the process of customs clearance and registration is now under way. Pray that these remaining formalities will go smoothly.

The work has been beset with vehicle maintenance and reliability issues, so we are deeply grateful to those who gave generously to enable us to purchase this vehicle. The Lord sees and recompenses such sacrifice.

Please also pray that the Lord will make the vehicle a blessing in the work, especially in the literature distribution ministry, where we expect it to be of great service.

Thank you so much for praying – we recently received confirmation that the authorities have granted concessionary rates of import tax & duties, reducing the potential tax burden from almost US$50,000 (as much as the price of the vehicle) to only $12,500! We were far from certain that the concession would be granted, and the higher rate would have been an enormous drain on our resources.

The new vehicle is expected to arrive in Malawi within the next couple of weeks, God willing.

Angel had a follow up appointment with her surgeon last week. She said it was a positive meeting and the surgeon said she was surprised to see that the bone seems to have started growing back!

Angel’s had a couple of physiotherapy sessions over the past weeks which were quite challenging, but thanks be to God for the prayers and the positive feedback from her doctor.

We are glad to report that Angel is recovering following her recent car accident and surgery.

We were glad that she was able to get good care at a private hospital in Blantyre, although her planned surgery was seriously delayed on the day.

Angel returned to work at the beginning of the week, but she will value your prayers for a quick and full recovery.

Also remember Anna who is spending a short time with her friend Lois in Cyprus after attending the BES conference in N.Ireland.

We praise God for a very profitable Bible Conference. Over 50 of our literature distribution volunteers came for a week of teaching – some from as far as Mozambique. Many more would have come, but we were constrained by lack of accommodation, and the need to help almost all with their travel expenses.

Many of the brothers who attended commented how they had been so greatly helped by the teaching from 1 Corinthians. Many had never had the opportunity to listen to consecutive Bible teaching before.

Please pray for lasting benefit in the lives of those who came.

Anna writes: Praise report! The police arrested the drivers of the truck [which had entered her property a couple of weeks back] today and brought them to Thondwe so we could meet with them.

And…it turns out their story [they claimed to be investigating poor cell network coverage in the area] is actually true! So they have been cleared and we are feeling relieved.

Note: We are truly thankful for this outcome. Although the threat was not as initially expected, the “jungle drums” will no doubt carry the message that you can’t get in and out of the area without being monitored – and that is a really good thing.

Please continue to pray for the safety and security of the team in the difficult months ahead – the economic situation is still dire and crime continues to be a serious threat.

Anna writes: It has been a joy to be with Harold and his family and the other family. They are now able to sleep through the night and their appetites have returned. Please pray for continued healing.

Note: Harold & his family (together with the other family who had been sheltering with them since they were made homeless by Cyclone Freddy) moved in with Anna temporarily while they de-stress following a traumatic robbery at their home a couple of weeks back. This is also giving time for repairs to be completed, and for additional security measures to be installed.

On 21 September it was exactly 5 years since SALT was formed.

We look back with profound gratitude to the Lord for all that He has done in the interim, and how the work continues to flourish in spite of many challenges.

We particularly give thanks for the Children’s work and Literature Outreach, each of which continue to thrive, under the hand of God. We are grateful too for the assembly planted at Saidi, and for how it continues to grow.
