On our way to Dedza prison today we saw a large truck that had just rolled over. The people of the village thought it was their lucky day as it was full of beer and they were going crazy removing all unbroken bottles, free of charge! For some distance after the accident we saw people carrying their loot away in a big hurry. Strangely on our way home the area was very quiet. I was a bit concerned that the people were more concerned about the loot than the driver and I sure hope no one was crushed under it as people walk and bike along the roads.

SALT 2019-04 Download

In our March 2019 News Update we reported on our recent visit to Malawi, and the progress made in developing the Prison work there. We also mentioned briefly the mechanical issues with Stephen’s truck, and the negotiations to purchase a development site near Thondwe – more later.

Jim McMaster and Stephen Harper travel to Malawi today for a two-week visit during which they hope to make further progress developing the prison work and other areas of SALT’s ministry.

Of particular importance will be trying to negotiate on land for the planned project to build a centre from which to base SALT’s future operations.

Please pray for safe travel, good health and for a fruitful time in Malawi.
