Like everyone else, the work of the Trust has been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, but we are grateful to the Lord that none of the directors or local volunteers have so-far contracted the illness.
A New Motorcycle for Goodson
3 years ago a young Canadian sister’s sacrifice enabled us to purchase a small, Chinese motorcycle for brother Goodson. It was “cheap and cheerful”, but has proved to be an amazing blessing to the work.
Not surprisingly, frequent use on poor dirt roads had begun to take its toll, and despite Goodson’s best efforts to maintain it, the bike has been giving real problems lately, and maintaining it seems like throwing good money after bad.
We were recently contacted by a young brother who expressed his burden to help Goodson with a bigger, stronger and more reliable motorbike, better suited to the conditions on which it’s normally used. His very generous gift has come at a crucial time as we begin our 2020 Gospel calendar distribution, and the newly purchased Honda bike will enable him to reach many areas which would have otherwise been inaccessible to him, and to keep visiting the little assembly in Zomba to which he is so committed.
We praise the Lord for this and pray that the work it has facilitated will be a great blessing to many.
Going to press again
As we go to press on half a million 2020 Gospel Calendars, we express our thanks to Brian Chalmers for his help with the artwork this year.
June 2019 Update
Literature Publication
Gospel Literature production remains SALT’s primary focus.
We have just completed reformatting the next two Bible courses for use in Malawian prisons – there are now 6 courses available in the new format, complete with all the Bible references necessary to enable a prisoner to complete the study even if s/he has no access to a Bible.
May 2019 Update
In our April 2019 and March 2019 news we reported on our visit to Malawi in February and the well-publicised serious weather-related crisis that befell the region recently. This month we want to update you on some of those issues and give you some matters for thanksgiving and prayer.
April 2019 News Update
In our March 2019 News Update we reported on our recent visit to Malawi, and the progress made in developing the Prison work there. We also mentioned briefly the mechanical issues with Stephen’s truck, and the negotiations to purchase a development site near Thondwe – more later.
“A good tool in evangelism”
For the second year running we supplied a number of Gospel calendars in Afrikaans / English to assemblies in the Republic of South Africa.
10,000 calendars were delivered in Johannesburg and I was glad to hear that they had travelled many km to where this text came from a few days ago:
I’ve put up one of those calendar on our noticeboard and am sure it will be a good tool in evangelism…
