Points for Prayer & Thanksgiving

  • Pray: Relaunch of Emmaus ministry

Please pray for the launch of Emmaus Malawi this coming week, God willing, in the area surrounding Saidi as well as to a few key distributors. Pray these courses will make many wise unto salvation and build a Scriptural foundation in the hearts of those who already know Christ. Please pray for the growth and preservation of the believers in the assembly.

  • Give Thanks – Election passed off peacefully.

Anna writes: “We are very thankful for a peaceful election. This means school work can officially begin!” Note: 85 yr-old former President Peter Mutharika has been declared the winner. His last election victory in 2019 was declared null and he lost the re-run in 2020. His first term of office was overshadowed by numerous corruption scandals, but such has been the economic decline over the past 5 years, the Malawian people have turned to him in desperation in the hope that he can turn the economy around. Please pray for an improvement in the country’s economic situation and for relief…

  • Pray: Malawi Election Results still awaited

Please continue in prayer as a full week has elapsed but the Malawi election results are still awaited.

  • Pray: Presidential Elections – Tuesday

Please pray earnestly for the Presidential elections to take place on Tuesday. Pray specifically for peaceful conditions before, during and after the election. Also pray that the election will bring real easing of the serious hardships which have gripped the country during the last few years. Malawi’s economy has been described as “in freefall” – inflation averaged over 30% in 2024, and there are constant shortages of basic commodities and fuel. A once peaceful country has become prone to violent protest and organised crime. Although there is widespread dissatisfaction with the incumbent, Lazarus Chakwera, the main contender for the opposition…

  • Pray: Planned visits to Malawi

October promises to be a busy month of visits to Malawi (DV). Jeff Gratias (OR) and Cameron McCrindle (WA) are planning to overhaul of one our Isuzu pickup trucks, and do other mechanical servicing jobs, no doubt. Tom Turnbull (MI) has also volunteered to come (with Debbie, his wife) and install our roller doors and some some other maintenance and related work. Plus we are really looking forward to a visit from Samuel and John from Every Home Crusade to see the literature work they have been supporting with their literature donations. We are so grateful for the interest of…

  • Pray: Presidential Election on 16 September

Please pray about the upcoming Presidential election, now a little over 1 week away. Specifically pray for:

  • Pray: Work progressing with Dormitory construction

Please give thanks and pray as work re-starts on the dormitory construction project at Saidi. We had expected to be much further along at this stage, but an order of 30 Tons of cement was delayed by over a month due to the ongoing economic problems in Malawi. This meant the work of pouring foundations was delayed by several weeks. Pray for the Lord’s hand in every detail of this project – not least that He will richly bless this step of faith to the spiritual upbuilding of many future Malawian evangelists, elders and Bible teachers.

  • Give Thanks & Pray: Project to produce video recordings of Conference messages complete

A project to produce all of the recent conference messages on video & mp3 audio is now complete. Please pray that the Lord will multiply the usefulness of these messages in this way as we distribute them to those who were unable to attend the conferences.

  • Pray: 12,000 Revised Emmaus Courses going to print

The work of revising and relaunching our Chichewa Emmaus Course offering is complete, and we are placing an initial order for 12,000 new booklets. In future, we hope to keep costs down by printing most of these booklets in-house, however we simply don’t have the time and manpower to do that at present, so we are using a local printing company. Pray that they will complete the job in good time, and to a high standard. There is a great appetite for these materials in Malawi. Please pray that the Lord will use them for the spiritual blessing of many.
