Points for Prayer & Thanksgiving

  • Give thanks for encouragement at Saidi

Brother Harold shared this photograph of the group that turned out…

  • Pray: Deteriorating economic conditions in Malawi – prison hardship

Please remember the deteriorating economic situation in Malawi, illustrated by this plea for help received this morning from a senior prison officer in Malawi. “Good morning Stephen, I trust the Lord is keeping you well. “We have a difficult situation at C* Prison and N* Prison. The two prisons have run out food. We have maize in stock at M* Prison Farm but there is no fuel. Therefore, I am requesting if SALT can come in to help. The Officer In-charge for N* Prison personally called me on the need.

  • Pray: Hostile Environment / First Aid Training week

Please pray for Stephen & Gail who will be taking part in a three-day Hostile Environment and First Aid Training course this week. Although some of the training scenarios will likely envisage environments that are considerably more dangerous than Malawi, pray that they will be able to acquire knowledge and ideas that will prove beneficial in our circumstances, especially given the deteriorating security situation in Malawi.

  • Pray: Critical Fuel Shortages and other economic problems

Over the past couple of weeks sporadic fuel shortages have become more widespread. In an escalation of problems which re-emerged in April this year, fuel pumps across Malawi are running dry. After variously blaming high demand due to a major football match and a visiting Nigerian pop artist, the Government has finally admitted that the shortage is due to lack of foreign currency!

  • Pray for Kids’ Bible Study in recess

Wati reminds us to pray for the children who normally attend the Kids’ Bible Study (Saturday): When the Kids’ Bible Study meetings resumed after MGO there were some new faces attending. Some who first visited during the MGO camp have come to the regular kid’s Bible study in the past two weeks. Schools will be on break at the end of September and the kids’ Bible study is now on break and will resume when schools reopen. Please pray that the children who attend will be preserved during the break, and that they will reflect on what they have learned.

  • Pray: Anna visiting in UK

Anna is spending the next few days in N.Ireland en route to USA for a family wedding. Pray that the time away from Malawi will be restful, and especially that the time with family will be a blessing to her.

  • Latest progress at Saidi

With each visit, I am amazed at the on-site progress at Saidi. The Lord has been so good! Recently, we have been working on a new office and printing room, as well as a maintenance workshop and store. Although it wasn’t possible to get these completed in the run-up to MGO 2022, we were thankful that the immediate priority of running water and a working toilet was accomplished – much to the relief of the visiting ladies, and some of the gentlemen too! We’re praying that both of these important structures will be finished soon.

  • Pray: Anna taking a short break in UK & USA

Now that MGO 2022 is over, Anna plans to take a break for a few weeks to attend her sister’s wedding in USA. She will also spend a short time in the UK enroute to & from the States.Pray for journeying mercies as she sets off on Wednesday (DV) and that this will be a profitable and refreshing time for her. Also pray for the various aspects of the work that she will leave behind.

  • MGO 2022 – Give Thanks & Continue to Pray for Blessing

Over the past two weeks we’ve been wonderfully reminded why MGO is such an important part of our annual calendar. Please join with us in thanking the Lord for His help and blessing, and continue to pray for blessing upon the word, specifically:

  • MGO 2022 – reflecting on the Lord’s goodness

As the clock runs down on MGO 2022, we reflect upon the Lord’s goodness over the past two weeks.
