Pack with Purpose: Prisoner Hygiene Packs & Pupil Classroom Packs

SALT partners with local churches and volunteers to prepare two simple, high-impact resources for Malawi: Prisoner Hygiene Packs and Pupil Classroom Packs. Packing is practical, relational, and a great way to involve all ages in meaningful mission.

Prisoner Hygiene Packs

Many prisons in Malawi lack basics. Our packs provide essential hygiene items (plus a short Gospel message) that restore dignity and open doors for Gospel preaching. (Find out more: https://saltrust.org/ministries/prison-ministry/)
You can help by gathering items, packing with a group, or sponsoring a batch for a specific prison visit.

Pupil Classroom Packs

Children thrive when they have the most basic tools for learning. Working with supporters in UK & North America, SALT ships thousands of school packs to reach classrooms across Malawi—recent shipments included 4,000 school packs plus additional senior packs and sports items to encourage learning and play.
Churches in North America and the UK have already coordinated large consignments of Classroom Packs for Malawi—thank you to all who have helped make this possible. (Find out more: https://saltrust.org/ministries/childrens-youth-ministry/)

Why it matters

  • Opens doors for the Gospel through compassionate action alongside teaching and literature ministry.
  • Multiplies local impact by resourcing schools and prisons our team regularly visits.

Ways you can take part

  • Host a packing night at your church, home group, or youth club.
  • Sponsor a set of Prisoner Hygiene Packs or Pupil Classroom Packs.
  • Coordinate a regional drive (we’ll provide item lists, labels, and packing tips).
  • Add a note of encouragement—short, respectful messages are welcome and treasured.

Please note: It’s important that we maintain a high degree of consistency in the packs we distribute, so please get in touch for details before you start to assemble packs.
