After much anticipation, MGO is almost upon us. The team will be assembling in Malawi over the course of the next week.

Please pray for:

Safe & trouble-free travel (there is a lot of travel disruption at present).
- Advance party leave Dublin on Wed
- Others depart Chicago, Toronto & London on Fri & Sat
- Average travel time >30 hrs
Health, safety & well-being of the team while in Malawi. Stamina to maintain a busy schedule
Spirit of harmony & cooperation
Help with preaching / teaching & translation
Salvation of those who hear the Word
Life-changing experiences among team members
Encouragement of the local believers

Countdown to MGO

We have been waiting a long time but now the countdown to MGO is T-2 weeks!

Initially we planned to have a series of 5 Children’s Day Camps, but we learned a few weeks ago that the school term has been extended due to earlier Covid disruption. Accordingly, we have adapted the plan to have a two-session Day Camp on the middle Saturday of MGO and do three half-day school visits instead. Preparations for MGO are at an advanced stage and things are starting to become quite busy.

Please remember Anna and the team as they finalise arrangements with 3 schools for the team to visit to present the Gospel and distribute Seed Sower texts & Acts 16:31 exercise books. Also remember the preparations for the Children’s all-day event which will take place on Saturday 20th August, Lord willing.

Stephen writes: “It’s now less than a month to MGO 2022. Please pray for all the final preparations that need to be made as MGO approaches:

Scheduling of outreach events
Printing of Seed Sower texts / meeting invitations
Accommodation
Vehicle Hire
Preparation of lessons & materials for children’s work
Preparation for Gospel meetings
Finishing necessary infrastructure (particularly kitchen / toilets) at the Saidi site.

The South Wind Blew

Acts 28:13 records how after many winds of adversity, at last the south wind blew, speeding Paul and his companions toward their desired destination. Several recent trips to Malawi had their share of difficulty and disappointment (all in the Lord’s purpose). However, I am thankful that, apart from a 24 hour delay in Frankfurt on the outbound journey, everything went smoothly, if a bit slower than I’d hoped (the M-factor!) on my latest trip.

Anna reminds us to pray for MGO 2022, which is now less than 2 months away. Prior to Covid, MGO had become a very significant feature of our annual calendar, and we are really looking forward to resuming this year.

There is still a considerable amount of preparation to be made on site. We plan to have a week of Children’s Outreach & Gospel work at Saidi, as well as our regular MGO activities.

Stephen & Gail’s latest visit to Malawi

It was lovely to have Gail’s company in Malawi for a couple of weeks

I love Malawi. I’ll take every opportunity to visit Malawi. But I hope I never have to visit again in the circumstances that made this present trip necessary.

As regular readers know, sister Anna recently suffered a very traumatic burglary and assault at her home. The trustees agreed unanimously that Gail and I should travel to Malawi at the earliest opportunity to support her through this crisis. We also felt it appropriate to review and improve the security of our people and property in Malawi in light of what had happened.

MGO 2022 Fully Subscribed

After a final flurry of activity this week, MGO 2022 is now fully subscribed. It looks like we are going to have our biggest team ever, with 22 participants signed up, plus our local volunteers, Lord willing.

As in previous years, the team will have an international flavour, with participants from USA, Canada/Mexico, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland.

We expect that MGO may have a slightly different twist this year. For the first time we have our own property on which to run children’s day camps, and it looks like this will feature this August. It will be a great opportunity to bolster the children’s work which Goodson and Anna carry on at Saidi.

Please pray earnestly for the Lord’s blessing. With such a large group there will be much more organisation and logistics involved. So, we ask you to pray for wisdom at this planning stage.
